Welcome to FRC Rent-a-Mentor!

The FIRST Robotics Competition is, in our humble opinion, the best way for teenagers to gain real-world engineering, programming and business experience. That comes from access to true professionals in the field, giving their time and energy to FRC teams.

Not all teams have access to specialized mentors. That’s where FRC Rent-a-Mentor comes in. The Elm City Robo Squad along with a number of mentor friends are assembling a mentor database and facilitating the connection of mentors with teams in need.

The intent of this program is to eventually provide “spot assistance” to teams all across New England. What is “spot assistance”? Single-support meetings or a class provided by an experienced mentor or mentor/student combo at the requesting team’s shop in the area of need. For the pilot season (2016–17) we are limiting our reach to teams in Connecticut.

We are actively seeking mentors to fill our roster of support. Keep your eyes on the blog as we post helpful articles, links, announcements, and document the work Rent-a-Mentor accomplishes!
